A 19-inch rack case is a standardised frame or enclosure for mounting multiple electronic equipment modules stored within a protective housing. Each module has a front panel that is 19 inches (482.6 mm) wide hence the name 19’ rack case. The 19 inch dimension includes the edges that protrude from each side of the equipment, allowing the module to be fastened to the rack frame with screws.

These rack cases are manufactured in compliance with the Air Transport Association ATA-300 regulations and the Electronic Industries Association EIA-310-D standard.
What size are Rack Cases available in?
Our standard design for 19″ rack cases is 6U in height and over including fully rotatable casters. These are mounted on 18mm Birch Ply wheelie boards. All cases come supplied with 2 sets of fixings for every U to ensure that you are ready to go.
The width and depth, are standardised measurements while the height is customisable. The height is designated in terms of ‘U’ where 1 U is equal to 1.75 inches (44.45 mm) or one rack unit in which electronic modules are often measured.
We are able to offer 1U, 2U, 3U, 4U, 5U, 6U, 7U, 8U, 9U, 10 U, 11U, 12U rack cases, with custom sizes above 12U also available. Fully custom rack cases are also available with your specified width, height and depth.
